Cinema Loves AVON
AVON has been calling to American doors for more than 100 years which made it one of the most popular brands. With its great impact on American lifestyle and US economy it easily became a subject of popculture. Not only in US, being honest.
Mad Women

AVON appears in few episodes of Emmy award winning series "Mad Men" which portrays, saying briefly, the 1960’s from advertising agency executives perspective. Once it is one of the main character’s sister who works for Mary Kay and desperately wants to change her job for AVON. But the most significant AVON appearance is when Peggy and Joan met head of AVON marketing who wanted to refresh AVON’s communication. And the fact is AVON changed that time: Instead of featuring the Fifties-style stay-at-home wife model of the early Sixties, ads in 1968 and '69 demonstrated a different kind of glamor, with crop-haired models in sparkly shift dresses. Avon Man

We just can’t wait to see sexy Mark Wahlberg starring “AVON Man” feature! The hunk we mostly remember from his alluring ads for Calvin Klein underwear is about to produce (and star) the story about a guy who was laid off his job and became an AVON Representative. Though he’s initially embarrassed, his natural charm makes him into a top seller. He does so well that he then tries to help save his small town and his struggling family by recruiting his former colleagues to win a regional sales competition. It looks like men see nothing embarrassing in sharing the beauty nevermore. (photo: press release)
Scent with licence to thrill

In 2009 British actress Gemma Arterton introduced AVON fragrance called Bond Girl 007. She played British Intelligence agent next to Daniel Craig in 22nd James Bond film „Quantum Of Solace”. The exciting scent is not available anymore but we still can feel that thrill as if we were standing next to Daniel Craig. (photo: AVON)
Your life in your (scissor) hands

We love Tim Burton’s imagination and we love his movies. Do you remember epic “Edward Scissorhands”? It opens with local Avon Lady Peg Boggs (Academy awarded actress Dianne Wiest) who visits the decrepit gothic mansion on the hill. There, she finds Edward alone, and upon realizing he is virtually harmless she decides to take him to her home. Edward becomes friends with Peg's young son Kevin and her husband Bill. He later falls in love with the Boggs' beautiful teenage daughter, Kim played by Winona Ryder, despite her initial fear of him. The movie’s opening scene, as far as we are concerned, is the longest “Avon’s calling” scene in the cinema. Watch the whole movie – it’s a great entertainment for the whole family. Avon Lady always rings twice

“Ding, dong, AVON calling” became AVON ladies trademark in the US and is always assigned to a friendly visit. Friendly trademark could be used for not only friendly purposes. In of the “American Horror Story” episodes we spotted Jessica Lange (Academy awarded actress who starred in “The Postman Always Rings Twice”) whose witchy character for sure doesn’t have good intentions. She uses Avon calling phrase to entry her enemy’s house and treats her with poisoned cake. Jessica Lange does it with best manners. (photo: movie still)
Working girl

We loved watching Fran Dresher’s “The Nanny” in the middle of 90’s. It was so popular that ten years later we could watch local versions of the show across Europe. Do you remember how Fran Fine entered Mr Sheffield’s house? Fran fresh out of her job as a bridal consultant in her fiance’s shop, first appears on the doorstep of Broadway producer Maxwell Sheffield selling cosmetics door-to-door. Is it a coincidence that a woman who wanted take her life in her hands became a cosmetic company representative?
Family business

“Una familia con suerte” (lucky family) is a popular Mexican soap opera which plot is built around family cosmetic business. Head of the family (and the company) Doña Fernanda is about to commit a suicide after she discovers she had cancer. She almost jumped of the bridge but luckily poor local farmer Pancho was passing by and rescued her. Humiliated by his inability to provide for his family's well-being, Pancho has no option but to accept Fernanda’s gratitude who offers him to take the post as president of her cosmetic company. The cosmetic company happens to be AVON. And the story goes…
